A second deputy arrived on scene to assist and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. A records check of Hartley and the vehicle’s VIN number was conducted through communications who advised the vehicle was possibly stolen out of Tulsa PD. The deputy allegedly observed the faint smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A Hopkins County deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a reported traffic violation and made contact with Hartley, the driver, and the male passenger, Edwards.

Deputy Fisher reportedly stated that his K-9 had alerted positive and a probable cause search was conducted. A K-9 unit was requested to the scene to conduct an open air sniff around the vehicle. Rushin reportedly denied a consent search of his vehicle and it’s contents. While speaking with Rushin, he allegedly appeared to be nervous.
